Please ensure your fuelled up before departing, there is a Tesco petrol station 2 minutes from the hotel in Llandrindod Wells.
Leaving Llandrindod Wells we head on to the A483 Left at the roundabout on to the A44 to Rhayader, continue straight on to the B4518 into Elan Valley
Elan Valley
Driving through winding demanding roads around Elan Valley, renowned for its stunning landscapes, reservoirs, and dams.
After completing the Elan Valley loop, turn right back in to Rhyayader and head north along the A470 to Llanidloes. Once in Llanidloes, Left at the first roundabout, right on the second, over the bridge and left again on to the B4518.
Clywedog Reservoir Viewpoint
Quick stop to stretch our legs and admire the views over Clywedog Reservoir.
Back on the B4518 and take a left along the mountain road to Machynlleth. We continue north on the A487 along one side of the Mac Loop, left on to the A470 and A493 to our lunch stop. There is a small car park just before the pub which avoids the speed bumps next to the river.
George III – Pub Lunch
Arriving at approximately 12:30, The George III Pub is your quintessential Welsh country pub, nestled in an idyllic spot beside the Mawddach River and the historic Toll Bridge.

We aim to leave The George III Pub by 14:15, crossing the Grade II listed Toll Bridge while capturing some memorable photos as we pass over this historic structure.
Continue to the A494, A smooth fast flowing road offering mixed scenery towards Bala Lake. As you approach the Bala Lake the road runs adjacent offering views across the water.
Bala Lake
The parking area at the lake, with a café and facilities, offers a quick stop for capturing stunning lakeside photos before continuing the journey.
From here towards Black Rock Sands. We take both the A4212 and B4391 towards Ffestiniog passing Afon Tryweryn Lake on a truly fantastic fast-paced stretch of road. From Ffestiniog pick up the A487 to Porthmadog. Once on the Hight street take a left on towards the beach. Signed to Cwrs golf course.

Double back along the A487, watch out for the left turn towards Blaenau Ffestiniog and head north over the slate landscapes of Crimea Pass. At the end of the road, turn left onto the A5, then take the right before Betws-y-Coed onto the A470, and continue to Tal-y-Cafn before turning left to our stop for the night.

We will arrive at approximately 17:45, giving plenty of time to relax, enjoy, and get social. Dinner is booked from 20:30 where you will have a choice of 3-courses from the main restaurant menu included in your tour.

Leaving the hotel, we head north on the A470 and westbound on the North Wales Expressway. Take exit 10 for a quick fuel stop
Tesco Petrol Station
Rejoin the A487 towards Porthmadog. Follow the route until you reach the signed roundabout exit towards Llanberis (A4086), then take the first right heading south along the A4085 to Beddgelert. From Beddgelert, continue the A498.
Coffee Stop- Caffi Gwynant
A cozy Welsh café with exceptional coffee nestled in the heart of Snowdonia.
After our coffees, we continue along the A498 and A4086 towards Capel Curig, then turn north onto the A5. (parking before the café in the layby to the left or just after in the public car park to the right)
Snowdon Loop
The A5 marks the start of the Snowdon loop, offering a breathtaking drive past picturesque landscapes and Llyn Ogwen’s dramatic mountain backdrop. After the short dual carriageway section, we take a left onto the A4244 and continue on the A4086. Follow the road through Llanberis passing the slate quarry across Llyn Peris Lake, then over Llanberis Pass between though the Snowdonia mountains. Turn left at the end of the pass to complete the loop, then right onto the A5 to Betws-y-Coed.
Betws-Y-Coed lunch
We will aim to arrive in Betws-Y-Coed by 12:00, a charming village nestled in North Wales, renowned for its scenic beauty, flowing rivers, and its role as the gateway to Snowdonia National Park.
Departing Betws-y-Coed
We will aim to leave at 13:30, continuing east along the A5 to Pentrefoelas, where we will turn left onto the A543, marking the start of the famous Evo Triangle—be mindful of the average speed cameras along the route!
Evo Triangle
The Evo Triangle gets its name from Evo Magazine, which popularized the route as a prime testing ground for performance cars.
Passing the sportsman’s arms we take the Right turn, taking us back towards the A5 on the B4501. At Cerrigydrudion we turn left on to the B5105 to Ruthin. Once in Ruthin take roundabout exit for Llangollen along the A425 taking you via the Nant Y Garth Pass. Continue south along the iconic Horseshoe Pass, then rejoin the A5 heading East
Ash Café
Arriving at 15:00, the Ash Café at the Lion Quays Resort in Oswestry provides a cozy spot to enjoy coffee, snacks, and takeaway options. Conveniently, the adjacent Shell petrol station is ideal for refuelling your cars for the journey home.
